President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians seeking elective office to explain how they intend to fund and sustain their campaign promises, warning that postponing the cost of government policies could leave future generations with the burden.
According to Northern Nigeria Hub, Tinubu made the remarks in a post on his X account on Sunday, stressing that political commitments should be supported by credible plans and sustainable financing.
The President said leaders must address the immediate needs of citizens without undermining the future of younger generations, maintaining that financial responsibility remains essential in making government decisions.
He also referenced the experiences of Nigerians identified as Blessing, Ada, Abigail and Kabir, citing their stories in connection with the impact of government investments on people’s daily lives. He further acknowledged a request from Emmanuel, noting that more Nigerians were still waiting for access to essential services.
On transportation, Tinubu said the Federal Government would continue collaborating with state governments to expand access to affordable transport, with the aim of extending the service to more communities across the country.
