President Bola Tinubu has concluded his religious visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Nigeria, arriving in Abuja on Wednesday night after spending about seven days in the Middle Eastern country.
The presidential aircraft landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 8:53pm, where the President was received by senior government officials, security chiefs and five governors, among them Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum.
Tinubu’s visit included the performance of Umrah in Makkah. During his stay, he also received the rare opportunity to enter the inner chamber of the Holy Kaaba on Sunday, where he offered two raka’at of prayer for Nigeria’s stability, national cohesion and prosperity.
Voice of Naija reported that the President left Jeddah for Nigeria at 5:13pm local time on Wednesday, departing from King Abdulaziz International Airport.
The visit was also linked to a personal commitment Tinubu reportedly made before the 2023 presidential election, when he performed Umrah and pledged to return to give thanks to Allah if his political ambition was realised.
Following his return, the President is expected to participate in campaign activities in Rivers and Plateau states ahead of the January 16, 2027 elections.
