President Bola Tinubu on Sunday visited the Iga Idunganran Palace in Lagos Island, where the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, offered prayers and counsel for the President and his administration.
The visit was part of Tinubu’s engagements in Lagos following his return to the state, with the President accompanied by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and other political associates.
According to Vanguard, the President’s arrival at the palace attracted residents, All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters and well-wishers who gathered around Marina and Isale Eko to welcome him.
During the visit, Oba Akiolu prayed for divine guidance for Tinubu, peace in the country and continued progress for the nation. The monarch also shared his views with the President on issues relating to governance and the welfare of Nigerians.
The encounter further highlighted the continued interaction between the Federal Government and traditional institutions, particularly in Lagos where the Oba remains an influential voice on matters concerning the state and its people.
The visit reinforced the traditional institution’s role in engaging with the Federal Government on issues of governance, national development and the welfare of Nigerians.
