WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN AIRCRAFT GOES AOG?

Everything is ready for departure…

Then suddenly, the aircraft can’t fly. 👀

AOG = Aircraft on Ground.

It means the aircraft is temporarily unavailable to operate, often because of a technical issue. 🛠️✈️

When this happens, airlines may have to delay, reschedule or cancel flights if there aren’t enough aircraft available for operation.

The NCAA requires airlines to adjust their operations and ensure their schedules match the aircraft available for operation.

Because one aircraft going AOG can affect more than one flight. 👀

⏰ For domestic flights delayed by more than 2 hours, NCAA passenger-rights rules provide for refreshments for affected passengers.

AOG isn’t just an aviation term — it can affect your journey.

Have you ever experienced a delay caused by an AOG aircraft?
