The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has expanded its presidential re-election campaign structure with the inclusion of opposition figures and serving governors in strategic positions covering regional coordination, fundraising, mobilisation and communications.
Under the revised Presidential Campaign Council list, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has been assigned responsibility for coordinating President Bola Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, while Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has been named campaign coordinator for his state.
The appointments place prominent political figures outside the APC’s traditional leadership structure in positions central to the party’s efforts to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been named Director of Finance, while Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and National Revenue Service Chairman Zacch Adedeji will oversee fundraising for the campaign.
The revised list also assigns key mobilisation responsibilities to several political heavyweights. Former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje will serve as Director of Stakeholder Mobilisation, while former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola will coordinate stakeholder mobilisation in the South-West.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu has been named Deputy Director-General for South II, while Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule will coordinate state assemblies’ mobilisation in the South-South.
Former Minister of Works David Umahi has been assigned the role of Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure and Sensitisation, while former Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje takes charge of stakeholder mobilisation.
In the media and communications department, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Abdulmumin Jibrin, Lere Olayinka, an aide to Wike, and Segun Sowunmi have been included in the campaign team. Obafemi George will also serve as an adviser on media.
PDP Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo has been listed among the campaign council’s advisers, further widening the political representation in the revised structure.
The campaign has also made provision for sports and special assignments, with former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo named Deputy Director for Sports Sector Mobilisation and businessman Ayiri Emami appointed Director of Special Duties.
The council’s top leadership remains largely unchanged, with Senator Abdulaziz Yari retaining the position of Director-General. Senator Adams Oshiomhole will continue as Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation, while Femi Gbajabiamila retains the position of Deputy Director-General for Administration.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma also remains Secretary of the council, with APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru serving as Deputy Secretary and Hadiza Bala-Usman as Assistant Secretary.
Dele Alake retains his position as campaign spokesman, while James Faleke will oversee election planning, coordination and monitoring as Deputy Director-General.
The revised appointments reflect a campaign structure that combines party officials, serving governors, federal appointees, legislators and individuals associated with opposition parties in a broad effort to coordinate political mobilisation across the country.
