Musa Turns Down APC 2027 Campaign Role, Backs Return Of Petrol Subsidy

Muhammad Murtala Musa D Provost has declined a position reportedly offered to him on the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Committee for the 2027 election, saying he would rather support politicians who favour the return of the petrol subsidy.

According to Sahara Reporters, Musa made his position known in a statement dated September 7, 2026, after his name appeared on a list of members of the party’s New Media Committee headed by Dada Olusegun, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on New Media.

His decision comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, as political parties and individual politicians begin positioning themselves for the contest.

He said he did not accept the role and made clear that his political support would instead be guided by a candidate’s position on petrol subsidy.

Musa said he would dedicate his efforts to promoting any presidential candidate who commits to bringing back the subsidy if elected in 2027. He added that his position would apply even if President Bola Tinubu were to make such a commitment.

Explaining his decision, Musa said he was unwilling to defend political leaders whom he believes are responsible for the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians.
