The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has given two political figures 24 hours to substantiate claims linking him to Ekiti State or face a libel suit.

Adeola, who represents Ogun West in the Senate, directed the ultimatum at suspended APC member, Hon. Abayomi Hunye, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure, Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello, over comments allegedly made during interviews on Channels Television programmes.

According to a report by Azeez Olorunlomeru, published on September 15, Adeola’s media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, said the two had alleged that the senator was an indigene of Ekiti State, among other claims, without providing evidence.

Adeola described the allegations as false and defamatory, warning that he would seek legal redress if the claims were not substantiated within the 24-hour period.

“I watched in utter disbelief as these characters that I hardly know utter assertive and outrageous lies about my origin without any proof,” Adeola was quoted as saying.

The senator specifically disputed the alleged claim that he was from Ekiti, saying the person who made the assertion could not identify where in the state he supposedly originated from when challenged to provide details.

He also rejected claims concerning the locations of his parents’ graves, describing the allegations as an attempt to justify what he called an “unsustainable” narrative about his background. The dispute now places the alleged claims under the threat of legal scrutiny as Adeola prepares for the 2027 Ogun governorship contest.
