Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, appeared alongside businessman Aliko Dangote in New York as attention around the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s share offer extended beyond Nigeria.
The Nigerian singer and the Dangote Group chairman were spotted in Times Square with a large Nasdaq digital billboard displaying the message, “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.”
Channels Television reported that the pair interacted with people around the location, with Davido and Dangote pointing towards the digital display and exchanging gestures as the moment was captured on video and later circulated online.
Davido also used the occasion to ask Dangote why Nigerians should consider taking ownership in the refinery. Dangote said expanding the number of people who own stakes in the group’s businesses would help distribute wealth across Africa. He added that the fertiliser business could also be opened to wider ownership in the future.
The share sale began on September 14 and involves 4.1 billion ordinary shares at N525 per share. Investors are allowed to start with 10 shares, requiring a minimum investment of N5,250, while subscriptions are expected to remain open until October 13, 2026.
The refinery, situated in the Lekki area of Lagos, has a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels of crude oil daily. Its output includes petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and liquefied petroleum gas, while proceeds from the share sale are expected to be used to support further expansion of the facility.
