The Faculty of Law at Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has facilities including a moot court, law library, air-conditioned lecture rooms and auditorium to support students’ academic training and practical preparation for the legal profession.
The facilities were highlighted in the latest edition of the Umo Eno in AKSU series by Emmanuel Ndon, which examines developments across the university’s faculties under Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
The faculty’s moot court provides a courtroom-style setting where students can practise advocacy, conduct mock trials and develop skills in legal argument, court procedures and presentation of cases.
Its law library houses legal and academic materials to support research, independent study and the interpretation of statutes, case law and scholarly publications.
The faculty also has air-conditioned lecture rooms fitted with padded seats, alongside a lecture theatre equipped with auditorium chairs and presentation facilities for lectures and academic discussions.
Other facilities include an auditorium for seminars and academic engagements, furnished offices for teaching and administrative staff, and separate common rooms for lecturers and students.
According to Ndon, the facilities provide spaces for formal instruction, practical legal training, research and interaction among members of the faculty.
The report comes against the background of regulatory approvals for AKSU’s Bachelor of Laws programme. The National Universities Commission approved the full-time programme in November 2025, while the Council of Legal Education subsequently approved it to admit students in August 2026.
The series is examining the university faculty by faculty, with the Faculty of Law as its first focus.
