Agbonayinma Asks EFCC To Revisit 2006 Allegations Against Atiku

Former House of Representatives member Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reopen its examination of alleged financial crimes involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, citing reports dating back to 2006.

According to StreetNetNgr, Agbonayinma submitted a fresh petition to the commission, seeking a review of the earlier allegations and urging the agency to consider further legal action based on its findings.

The former lawmaker disclosed that the petition was signed on August 27, 2026, and received by the EFCC on September 1. He later appeared at the commission’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, to formally adopt the submission and answer questions from investigators.

As part of his request, Agbonayinma drew the commission’s attention to its September 2006 report concerning Atiku and a separate document issued on February 4, 2010, by the United States Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

The petition places renewed focus on the handling of the earlier allegations. However, the submission of a petition does not establish criminal liability, and any further action would depend on the commission’s assessment of the available evidence.
