The Managing Director of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Mr Imo-Abasi Jacob, has been appointed to the Board of Ibom Airlines Limited.

The appointment, approved by the Akwa Ibom State Government, designates Jacob to represent AKICORP on the airline’s board, with particular emphasis on improving financial management, ensuring timely reporting and enhancing operational efficiency.

A letter dated October 14, 2026, conveying the appointment, said the decision followed resolutions reached at an Extraordinary Meeting of Shareholders held on October 4, 2026.

The appointment is also backed by Section 6(d) of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (Amendment) Law, 2023, which provides the legal basis for the Corporation’s representation on the airline’s board.

According to AKICORP’s Information and Public Relations Unit, the move is expected to strengthen the board’s oversight responsibilities and improve accountability in the management of the airline’s finances.

Jacob’s appointment takes immediate effect, although it will be presented for ratification at the next Annual General Meeting.
