Thousands of students from various tertiary institutions across Delta North on Saturday gathered at the Cenotaph in Asaba to express support for President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gathering, which attracted a large crowd of students and party supporters, brought activities in parts of the state capital to a standstill as participants publicly declared their political allegiance to the APC.
The programme was organised under the platform of FELD, with the support of Hon. Pastor Paul Adingwupu, Chairman of the Governing Board of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.
Adingwupu received commendations from participants and party supporters for his role in bringing students from different institutions together for the political gathering. His efforts in coordinating the event also attracted considerable attention from those in attendance.
Several prominent APC figures and political stakeholders were present to lend their support to the students’ endorsement.
Those in attendance included the APC State Chairman, Solomon Areyenka; Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme; former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who is the party’s senatorial candidate for Delta North; and the party’s State Vice Chairman, Elder Moses Iduh.
Also present were Delta North APC Chairman, Dan Ossai; Ndudi Elumelu, candidate for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency; Nnamdi Ezechi, candidate for Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency; and Emmanuel Osazuwa, candidate for Ika Federal Constituency.
APC candidates contesting various seats in the Delta State House of Assembly also attended the event alongside local government party chairmen and other political leaders.
The gathering provided an opportunity for the party’s candidates and stakeholders to engage with students while building support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
FELD’s involvement in the programme also placed Pastor Adingwupu at the centre of the gathering, with participants acknowledging his contribution to mobilising students across Delta North.
