Nigerian footballer Quadri Liameed has been released from hospital after suffering a frightening head injury during a league encounter in Spain.
The 24-year-old midfielder was involved in a collision during Sabadell’s clash with Albacete at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium, where he was struck in the head by Albacete player José Corpas in the 43rd minute.
The impact left Liameed unconscious on the pitch, forcing medical personnel to rush to his aid. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for urgent examinations, sparking concerns about his condition.
Fortunately, the medical checks produced positive results, with no serious injury detected. Sabadell later announced that the Nigerian had been cleared to leave the hospital shortly after midnight.
In a statement shared on the club’s official X account, Sabadell expressed relief over the development and confirmed that the midfielder would return to the city that night.
The club also appreciated Albacete’s medical team for their assistance during the incident.
Liameed was accompanied by a member of Sabadell’s medical staff on his journey back before returning home to rest. Reports also indicated that doctors had discontinued the concussion protocol after the examinations ruled out an injury requiring further hospital observation.
Despite his discharge, the Nigerian is not expected to return to full training immediately. He will undergo a specially designed training programme over the coming days as part of his recovery before rejoining his teammates.
The incident happened when Corpas attempted to get to the ball but accidentally hit Liameed’s head with his boot, leading to the midfielder’s immediate removal from the game.
