The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has secured a clean sweep of Saturday’s local government elections in Anambra, winning all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state.
The landslide gives the party control of the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and all 362 electoral wards in the state, following the declaration of results by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
Declaring the results, the commission’s Chairman, Mrs Genevieve Osakwe, said the election was conducted peacefully across the state and in accordance with the relevant electoral laws and guidelines.
Osakwe described the exercise as free, fair, transparent and credible, while commending voters for turning out to exercise their civic responsibilities.
