The development comes as Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and US special envoy Steve Witkoff step up efforts aimed at advancing discussions over the Russia-Ukraine war, placing renewed diplomatic activity alongside a temporary reduction in Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

The pause in strikes coincides with the movement of the US envoys between the two countries, adding a potentially significant diplomatic dimension to an otherwise largely military conflict.

TIME, in its September 5 report identified Kushner and Witkoff as key figures in the latest US diplomatic initiative, with their engagements taking place against the backdrop of continuing efforts to find a pathway towards ending hostilities.
