The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has temporarily stepped away from party activities as he begins a two-week vacation outside Nigeria ahead of intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda’s break, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, is intended to allow the APC chairman to rest, recharge and return with renewed focus for the challenges ahead.
The timing of the vacation comes as the ruling party faces the task of consolidating its structures and strengthening its electoral machinery ahead of the next general elections.
Since assuming leadership of the APC, Yilwatda has been saddled with the responsibility of improving internal coordination and positioning the party for greater electoral competitiveness.
His temporary absence is therefore coming against the backdrop of preparations for what the party considers a crucial electoral cycle, with its organisational strength and internal structures expected to come under increased attention.
Tooki said the chairman would use the period to rejuvenate and strategise, suggesting that the break was part of preparations for the demanding political activities expected to follow.
Yilwatda is expected to return after the two-week vacation to continue overseeing the APC’s efforts to consolidate its structures and sharpen its strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
