APC governors have resolved to take charge of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in their respective states, ruling out support for political arrangements that could weaken the party or threaten his bid for a second term.
The decision was reached at a high-level meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum held at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, according to TVCNEWS.
Chairman of the forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the governors would align their state-level political structures with Tinubu’s re-election campaign and the broader objectives of the All Progressives Congress.
The governors also resolved that they would not endorse or support candidates contesting outside the APC in the 2027 elections, effectively committing the party’s governors to a unified electoral strategy ahead of the polls.
Uzodimma said the governors would reject any political alliance or arrangement capable of undermining Tinubu’s re-election effort or weakening the APC.
The resolution places the APC governors at the centre of the party’s 2027 mobilisation, with their state structures expected to play a major role in driving support for Tinubu and other party candidates.
The governors’ position also signals a determination to prevent internal or external political realignments from disrupting the APC’s hold across states ahead of the general elections.
With the 2027 contest drawing closer, the Progressive Governors Forum said its members would remain coordinated in advancing Tinubu’s re-election and strengthening the party’s electoral machinery.
