A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State says it will continue its mobilisation for the 2027 governorship election despite the unresolved dispute over the party’s ticket.

Niyi Mogaji, the deputy governorship aspirant in the faction, said the group would not halt its political activities while the disagreement over the governorship ticket remains before the courts.

Mogaji stated this in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Friday, insisting that the outcome of the primary should be respected by all stakeholders. He said any reconciliation within the party must be based on fairness, justice and compliance with relevant court decisions.

The dispute centres on competing claims to the ADC governorship ticket in Oyo State following separate primary exercises and disagreements over which candidate should represent the party in 2027. Mogaji said his faction maintained that its May 22 primary was valid, adding that the exercise was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to him, members of his camp had held several meetings with the opposing side in an effort to resolve the disagreement, but the talks had yet to produce an agreement. He maintained that the group was not opposed to the ADC or its leadership but wanted the party to respect court decisions and its internal processes.

“We have flagged up our campaign. And we shall proceed to it,” Mogaji said during the ARISE NEWS interview.

While defending his faction’s position, Mogaji also outlined areas he said would form part of its agenda for Oyo State, including job creation, agricultural development, infrastructure, local government administration and security.

He proposed an industrial corridor to attract businesses and expand employment opportunities, while advocating the processing of agricultural produce into semi-finished goods before export. On security, he suggested using drones and other technology to monitor what he described as ungoverned spaces and provide intelligence to security agencies.

Mogaji also said his camp would seek to stop what he described as unnecessary demolition of houses and improve the functioning of local governments if elected.

The ADC’s Oyo governorship dispute remains unresolved, with rival camps maintaining different positions on the validity of the competing primaries and the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
