APC Denies Withdrawal of 2027 Presidential Campaign Council List

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected reports suggesting that its list for the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council has been withdrawn, saying any decision to change the membership of the body would be officially announced by the party.

According to TheNewsGuru, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said on Tuesday that the reports were based on rumours. He explained that while the party could make adjustments to the list if necessary, no such change had been formally communicated. “Rumours are not news,” Morka said, adding that any update to the council’s membership would be properly disclosed.

The criticism came after the release of the campaign council list last week, which placed President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima as chairman and vice-chairman respectively. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari were also assigned senior roles, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was named secretary. The list attracted criticism over some of the nominees, with concerns reportedly raised about alleged corruption cases, exclusions and errors in its compilation.

Despite the reported criticism, the party has not announced a withdrawal of the list or fixed a date for the council’s inauguration. Morka said the APC would communicate any changes through the appropriate channels, leaving the current status of the campaign council unchanged until any official announcement is made.
