The Akwa Ibom State University of Education (AUE), Afaha Nsit, has directed the immediate replacement or updating of signages across its campus and university-owned properties following the approval and unveiling of its official logo, flag and institutional acronym.
The directive, announced by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Philip Afaha, forms part of efforts to establish a distinct identity for the newly established university and standardise its official branding.
Afaha unveiled the university’s approved identity on Monday, October 19, explaining that the logo combines blue, orange and white, with symbols representing academic learning and achievement.
According to him, the design features books, a graduation cap and a white scroll, with blue encircling orange, the colour associated with Akwa Ibom State.
The Vice-Chancellor said the logo and flag reflect the institution’s connection to the state while projecting its educational philosophy, vision and aspirations.
He described the approved identity as a representation of the university’s commitment to academic excellence, knowledge, wisdom and educational advancement.
Afaha also urged staff, students and members of the public to use the approved acronym, AUE, and accord the university’s logo and flag the appropriate respect.
In a related development, the institution announced its official social media accounts to strengthen access to verified information and improve communication with its stakeholders.
The university identified its Facebook handle as @AUE Afaha Nsit and its account on X, formerly Twitter, as @AUEAfahaNsit.
The platforms are intended to provide updates on university activities, programmes, policies, official announcements and other institutional developments.
The unveiling represents a further step in the university’s institutional development as it seeks to establish its identity and build its profile in teacher education and higher education in Nigeria.
