Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has thrown his weight behind the proposed Peter Obi-Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso presidential ticket, saying the pair has the political experience and reach to challenge for the presidency in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Galadima said the outcome of the next presidential election could not be determined in advance, while alleging that opposition politicians were being subjected to coordinated attacks ahead of the poll.

He dismissed concerns that disagreements among opposition figures could affect the ticket, insisting that Obi and Kwankwaso remained closely aligned. According to him, their political backgrounds and areas of influence could complement one another in a nationwide campaign.

Galadima also pushed back against concerns over the ticket’s prospects in northern Nigeria, presenting the proposed pairing as an attempt to bring together political interests from different parts of the country. He described Obi and Kwankwaso as experienced politicians and referred to their proposed alliance as a “healing ticket.”

The Sun reported that the NDC chieftain also criticised politicians promising to restore fuel subsidy, arguing that voters should examine their previous positions before accepting such pledges. He further alleged that the Tinubu administration still incurs subsidy-related costs through what it calls “Energy Security Expenses” and challenged the government to explain the expenditure.
