Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has stepped up political preparations for the 2027 general elections, urging newly inaugurated local government chairmen to work towards securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their respective councils.

According to Channels Television, Nwifuru gave the charge on Tuesday in Abakaliki during the inauguration of chairmen and vice chairmen elected to lead the state’s 13 local government areas.

The governor also dismissed allegations by opposition parties that APC members and supporters were using intimidation against political opponents in the state.

While speaking on the political situation, Nwifuru warned the opposition against interpreting the ruling party’s current stance as weakness, adding that they would see its full response at the appropriate time.

The governor’s comments come amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 polls, as political parties position themselves for greater influence across the state.

He also urged the council chairmen to reinforce the APC’s grassroots structure and mobilise support for the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Nwifuru’s administration has continued to emphasise grassroots mobilisation as part of efforts to maintain the APC’s political dominance in Ebonyi.
