American rapper and music executive Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over domestic violence allegations, including felony battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery, according to CBS News Miami.
Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was booked at about 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with the charges arising from allegations of physical violence against a woman. The allegations have not been proven in court.
The arrest came days after Ross’s former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused him of physically abusing her. Kendrick shared photographs on social media which she said showed injuries sustained during an alleged assault. However, authorities have not confirmed that Kendrick is the alleged victim in the criminal case or that her allegations directly led to Ross’s arrest.
Ross has denied the allegations through his attorney, Bradley Horenstein, who said the claims were false and urged the public not to rush to judgment while the case proceeds. A judge subsequently found probable cause and imposed a no-contact condition concerning the alleged victim, while Ross’s arraignment has been scheduled for October 22.
The arrest has attracted widespread attention because of its timing and the recent allegations involving Kendrick. However, the charges remain allegations, and Ross is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court as the judicial process continues.
