Seven people have reportedly been killed and two others injured after gunmen attacked a commercial bus at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the incident occurred on Sunday when the bus reportedly stopped at the junction to allow passengers to alight. The attackers allegedly opened fire on the vehicle, killing several people at the scene.
Among those reported killed was the driver, identified as Ibrahim, a resident of Bukuru in Jos South. Five other victims were reportedly residents of Kuru, while the identity of the remaining victim was not immediately established.
Two people who sustained injuries in the attack were said to be receiving medical attention. They were reportedly a fish seller and an orange vendor, both from Bukuru. A minor was also said to have survived the incident.
The attack has raised concerns among residents and traders around the Kuru axis, particularly over the safety of passengers and other road users. Security authorities are expected to investigate the incident and track down those responsible.
