An unidentified woman’s criticism of feminism and its perceived influence on modern relationships has drawn attention online, with her comments questioning changing expectations of women in marriage and society.
She argued that the push for gender equality had encouraged some women to challenge traditional arrangements between men and women, questioning whether rejecting conventional expectations represented progress or a departure from established cultural practices.
The woman also criticised women who confront their male partners over how they are treated, arguing that such behaviour reflects changes she associates with feminism.
In a statement shared by GistLover, she described feminism as a foreign influence that conflicts with African cultural values. She also questioned the movement’s demand for equal rights and criticised women who choose not to have children or take on domestic responsibilities.
“Feminism has destroyed our generation, it has gotten into their head. Women are now refusing to give birth, to cook, to wash. Women are now standing up to men and telling them, ‘How dare you talk to me like that?’ All these are not part of our culture, we’ve imported demonic ideas.
You feminists have to come back to your senses, what equal rights are you fighting for?” she said.
Her comments have brought differing views on women’s autonomy, cultural traditions and gender equality in relationships into focus.
