A British content creator has revealed how what appeared to be a minor skin problem after shaving her bikini line progressed into a serious infection that required emergency surgery.
Christy Collins, 28, from Bournemouth, Dorset, said she first noticed a small lump around her bikini line in August. The swelling later became significantly larger and painful, leaving her struggling to walk and eventually causing her to lose consciousness.
According to Collins, the problem worsened after she squeezed the lump, which she initially believed was an ingrown hair or boil. Within days, she said the affected area had developed into a large, hard swelling extending from her bikini line towards her buttocks.
Her condition continued to deteriorate, with Collins reporting episodes of blurred vision, weakness and lightheadedness. She eventually sought medical attention and was diagnosed with sepsis, a potentially life-threatening response to infection.
Doctors subsequently performed emergency surgery to treat the infection. Collins said medical personnel warned that delaying treatment further could have put her life at risk.
Speaking to Creatorzine, she said the experience had left her shocked by how quickly an apparently ordinary shaving-related problem could become a medical emergency.
