Six senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been placed on the retirement list in a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, following a review of their eligibility to remain in service.
The officers, all serving at the rank of Commissioner of Police, were identified in an internal communication from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, which instructed relevant police authorities to commence the process of issuing them individual retirement notices.
SaharaReporters, which obtained the communication, reported that the order was circulated to various departments, zonal commands and police formations, with instructions that the affected officers be formally informed through their respective offices.
Those named in the directive are Adamu A. Elleman, Abdullateef A. Yusuf, Lasisi A. Titilola, Markus Ishaku Basiran, Ajayi Oluyemi and Sylvester Onyie Uzouefuna.
The development was linked to a Police Service Commission letter dated October 27, 2026, with reference number PSC/2116/III/26, which was cited in the Force Headquarters’ communication.
The Inspector-General’s directive also required the receiving formations to ensure that the retirement instructions were implemented without delay.
