Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commissioned a state-of-the-art Model Primary School at Ikot Akpabio in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, equipped with modern facilities aimed at improving the learning environment for pupils.
The school was commissioned on Saturday as part of the 39 projects being inaugurated across the state to commemorate Akwa Ibom’s 39th anniversary.
Represented by former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong, the Governor said the facility was designed to provide children with a conducive environment for learning and strengthen the foundation of basic education in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, represented by the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, said the school comprises an ICT laboratory, fully furnished classrooms, solar-powered electricity, a modern sick bay, library, assembly hall and staff quarters.
The facility also has an Early Child Care Development Centre, sports facilities and a furnished security post, providing pupils with a comprehensive learning environment.
Governor Eno urged residents of Ikot Akpabio to protect the school against vandalism and misuse, stressing that proper maintenance of government facilities would ensure their continued usefulness to the community.
Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Alex Nyong, commended the establishment of the school, while the House of Assembly member representing the area, Hon. Aniefiok Attah, called on residents to safeguard the facilities. The Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai, HRM Edidem Okon Effiong, also commended the project.
