Security agencies in Anambra State have begun a coordinated security sweep of strategic locations as the state prepares to receive First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and other high-profile dignitaries.

The exercise, involving the Anambra State Police Command and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), is being conducted ahead of the planned visit and is designed to ensure that security arrangements are fully tested before the arrival of the dignitaries.

Rather than wait for the event day, the agencies have commenced an early assessment of designated venues, major access corridors, critical infrastructure and other locations considered significant to the visit.

Police spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the exercise forms part of the Command’s intelligence-led approach to identifying vulnerabilities and strengthening operational preparedness ahead of the high-profile engagement.

According to him, security personnel are examining potential threats, intelligence-sharing mechanisms, access points and movement patterns, while also reviewing deployment plans around areas expected to experience increased activity.

Traffic control and emergency response arrangements are also being assessed as part of the exercise, with the security agencies seeking to prevent disruptions and ensure smooth movement during the visit.

The NSCDC is participating in the operation as part of its mandate to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, while working with the police and other relevant agencies to strengthen the overall security architecture
