Akwa Ibom Inaugurates 2.1km Internal Road At Obong University

The Akwa Ibom State Government on Thursday inaugurated a 2.1km internal road serving as the main access to Obong University in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, as part of activities marking the state’s 39th anniversary.

Speaking at the inauguration on Thursday, Governor Umo Eno, represented by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, said the project was part of his administration’s commitment to opening up communities and improving infrastructure across the state.

The governor said his administration would continue to prioritise projects capable of improving the quality of life of residents, particularly in areas such as roads, education and economic development.

Ekpo, who delivered the governor’s message, also announced a N10 million gas-related intervention for Etim Ekpo through the local government chairman. He further pledged support for the establishment of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre at Obong University.

The minister, who described himself as a grandson of the area, said he chose to attend the event despite an engagement in London because of his regard for the governor and his connection to the people.

The inauguration is one of the projects being commissioned across Akwa Ibom as the state marks 39 years of its creation.
