Akwa Ibom State will on Sunday mark its 39th anniversary with a statewide inter-denominational thanksgiving service in Uyo, as the government, religious leaders, traditional institutions and residents gather to commemorate the state’s journey since its creation in 1987.
The service, themed “Gratitude,” is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo.
Governor Umo Eno is expected to lead government officials and other participants at the service, which will feature Bishop David Olatunji Abioye, Presiding Bishop of Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, as guest minister.
The event is part of activities marking the 39th anniversary of the state and is expected to bring together senior citizens, royal fathers, clerics, members of the business community, women, youths and students.
The government has also extended the invitation to sons, daughters and friends of Akwa Ibom to participate in the anniversary thanksgiving.
The service is expected to provide a platform for worship and thanksgiving as the state commemorates its 39 years of existence.
