Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has inspected ongoing work at the Ibom Medical City, expressing confidence that the project will be delivered within its scheduled timeline.

Eno carried out the inspection on Thursday while returning from Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, where he had commissioned a road project. During the visit, he received updates on the level of construction and other aspects of the project from the contractor and relevant officials.

The governor said the presence of the contractor, medical professionals and government officials at the site indicated that work was receiving the required attention. He said the explanations provided during the inspection gave him assurance that the project remained on course.

According to him, the Ibom Medical City is expected to expand access to advanced diagnosis and treatment and reduce the need for residents to travel outside the state or country for specialised medical care.

Eno also urged residents to embrace health insurance, saying coverage would help reduce the financial burden associated with expensive medical procedures and improve access to healthcare. He said the state would continue to encourage residents to take up insurance schemes.

The governor also inspected the Command and Control Centre and other facilities scheduled for commissioning this month as part of activities marking the state’s 39th anniversary. He said the investments were part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and provide facilities capable of serving current and future needs.
